Howdy and good to see you again, whoever is reading this. I have been rather busy over the past few months and while intending to make another blog post, I have not had any project be completed enough to have anything to fully say on the matter. So here are a few project updates that I can share to highlight what I have been focusing on.

## BSidesTC 2026

I am the lead organizer for BSides in the Twin Cities, and we just celebrated our 3rd annual event in October. It takes up a fair amount of time organizing the different aspects of the conference, so most of my attention and free time got consumed by this project. Not without worth, as we had our largest turn out yet at over 100 attendees! We will be putting it on again next year, and have some musing about how we might expand out even further.

## Matrix Client Search

I like Matrix, and find the ability to choose what client you use very promising. I am working through the list of Matrix clients available on Android and working on a draft where I discuss there pros, cons, levels of maturity, and so on. This has been mostly passive and in the background for regular usage, but I'm hoping for the calendar to clear for me to be able to write a considerable blog post on the apps.

## PhD Candidacy

I am a PhD candidate studying Cyber Defense with a focus in Data Privacy. This takes up a considerable amount of time, as I am intending to present my dissertation proposal fairly soon.

## Meshtastic

This is a very new one but I can see the hole I'm about to dive in. The final talk for BsidesTC this year was from [Save It For Parts](https://www.youtube.com/@saveitforparts?ref=blog.strongthany.cc) which was "Resilient Communications and Situational Awareness without the Internet", or satellite and mesh radios. I am now very interested in getting more involved with the project, having gotten a device(I've already bricked it once!) to start toying with from a kind mutual on Mastodon.

## What's next

I hope to have a more technichal or substantial blog post up soon, with some further detail on projects I'm working on other than a promise that I am still working on something. Stay tuned!
